The luminaries like Sardar Datar Singh, Dr. K.C. Sen, Dr. Z.R. Kothawalla, Dr. D.N. Khurody, Dr. V. Kurien, Dr. P. Bhattacharya were the past presidents of the IDA.

From Inception to Impact: The Journey of the Indian Dairy Association and Its Tamil Nadu Chapter

The Indian Dairy Association (IDA), established in 1948, is the apex organization representing the dairy industry in India. It comprises a diverse membership base, including cooperative societies, multinational corporations, corporate entities, private institutions, educational establishments, government bodies, and public sector undertakings.

IDA maintains close engagement with dairy producers, planners, scientists, academicians, and various institutions and organizations involved in the advancement of the dairy sector in India.

To promote knowledge sharing and innovation, the IDA regularly organizes seminars, symposia, and exhibitions on a variety of themes relevant to professionals, researchers, institutions, and organizations associated with the development of dairying in the country.

About Indian Dairy Association (IDA) Tamil Nadu Chapter

The IDA Tamil Nadu Chapter commenced its operations on 14th March 2012 at the Department of Dairy Science, Madras Veterinary College, Chennai. The chapter was formally inaugurated by Dr. R. Prabhakaran, the then Vice Chancellor of TANUVAS. In 2013, the chapter organized National Milk Day featuring a poster session, dairy product preparation competitions, and the Dr. Verghese Kurien Endowment Lecture. The following year, in 2014, it successfully hosted the 42nd Dairy Industry Conference on a grand scale.

Regular meetings are held to support the interests and welfare of members. Annually, the chapter celebrates National Milk Day and World Milk Day, along with organizing exposure visits for members and dairy entrepreneurs to enhance their knowledge and skills in dairying.
